David Benavidez and Demetrius Andrade have contrasting personalities.
Benavidez, a very serious and intimidating figure, and Andrade a more jovial person who often jokes while training.
The two will fight for Benavidez's WBC super middleweight world title with implications of possibly the winner landing a fight with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez in May. Nonetheless, All Access episode one featured the two fighters ahead of their November 25th Showtime pay-per-view fight, which takes place at the Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. As we were two weeks away, the camera gave a slight peak into the difference between the two fighters.
The show starts with Benavidez venting about how he feels no one in boxing believed in him, and that he had to fight with anger to become who he is as Benavidez took pride in that he feels he hasn't had a close fight.
A montage sets the stage between the two world champions as we see quick highlights from their Los Angeles, California press conference.
We return to Seattle, Washington in which boxing legend, Marco Antonio Barrera is seen conducting an interview with Benavidez. Later in the segment, Barrera FaceTimes Mexcian boxing legend Juan Manuel Marquez who talks to Benavidez as well.
"I feel I am the favorite fighter of the older fighters because they see a lot themselves in me," said Benavidez during an intense training montage.
Now we head to San Carlos, CA, where Demetrius Andrade is doing a track workout with Remi Korchemny. As we learn about just how different Andrade is from Benavidez as he jokes with the show producers telling stories. Andrade not unlike a great jazz improv musician works with some structure, but seems to be best when left with wiggle room in the structure. This is shown in the segment.
"I know I can fight," said Andrade. "Once I really get in the groove of things, and you can't do [or] go a certain way, because your body is not coordinated enough to do that. Then it is - and the new, and still."
We return to the Benavidez camp as Jose Benavidez Jr, David's older brother, brings an exotic cat to the gym. The segment focuses on the bond between the boxing brothers and how Benavidez looks up to his brother, Jose Jr. It also details the family nature of their camp as he is trained by his father, Jose Benavidez Sr., and they talk about how they have grown as a family and how his father used to be 'too hard' on him.
The episode ends with Andrade talking about how he will beat Demetrius Andrade while he is getting a haircut at the SNAC System gym in San Carlos, CA. The episode concludes with a fast montage of training footage from both fighters.
