Terence Crawford: David Benavidez is ready for Canelo Alvarez

David Benavidez is ready for Saul Alvarez, according to Terence Crawford, who marveled at the way in which the Mexican 'Monster looked in his stoppage win over Demetrius Andrade.

"He's ready for Canelo," Crawford told Fight Hype.

"[Beanvidez] looked spectacular, he did wonderful … he’s just got to tighten up a little on his defense, but other than that, he’s good. He’s relentless, it’s pressure, but it’s smart pressure. He’s coming behind his jab, throwing straight punches, he’s going to the body up and down."

Crawford had his own star-making performance in July when he stopped Errol Spence Jr. at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Since that fight, in which he became the undisputed welterweight champion, he has said he wants super-fights of his own and would welcome a bout against Canelo — despite three weight classes dividing them.

Though Crawford is obligated to engage Spence in a rematch, he has brought up his lust for 'big fights'.

Yet, when it comes to Canelo versus Benavidez, Crawford is loathe to choose a winner.

"Well, you know he was getting a lot of backlash for his fight with [Jermell] Charlo," Crawford said of Canelo to reporters.

"Charlo didn't put up a good fight, given that [he] was going up two weight classes. A lot of people felt Canelo was a bully in that fight, but I just think Charlo went in there looking to get a payday. He didn't go in there with a mindset of winning, but not getting stopped.

"I think business talks. With the right business come across the table it will happen [Crawford versus Canelo]."
