Gervonta Davis has fired a shot at Devin Haney.
Davis, the 27-year-old superstar boxer, has had a long-running rivalry with Haney, which saw a new wrinkle on Thursday morning via social media.
Haney, earlier in December, defeated Regis Prograis to win the WBC junior welterweight world title.
Davis last fought in April, defeating Ryan Garcia in a mega-event. Davis, who doesn’t have a bout scheduled seems keen to let Haney know he is not impressed with his performance. In his post on X, the website formerly known as Twitter, Davis referenced not just Haney, but his father, Bill, an outspoken advocate of his son.
“I promise you. Your father gonna cry for what ima do to you and that’s on my dead homie. Ya best bet is to enjoy it while you can,” remarked Davis.
“[tagging Devin Haney’s social media handle] you my [expletive].”
Haney responded with the following.
“Let’s make it happen.. I’m free.”
Davis promptly stated the following.
“Say nothin..”
Could we see Davis versus Haney next? Who knows - but this type of talk leads to interest in the fight. Interest in the fight leads to revenue. And more revenue means the fight becomes more and more feasible.
