In a video released by Frank Warren's Queensberry Promotions via their YouTube channel, the WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury spoke on various issues, including this weekend's bout between Zhilei Zhang and Joe Joyce, which is a rematch of a bout that saw Zhang stop Joyce earlier this year.
Fury, who is never short with his words spoke about the first match-up in the sitdown interview, as both fighters have been named as possible feature foes for him.
"[Joe Joyce] got beat like I thought he would," said Fury when speaking to Queensberry Promotions. "I actually thought Joe would have to get off the floor a couple of times, and [coming from behind to get the win]...obviously he didn't."
Prior to the fight, Fury took to Instagram as he is prone to do at times, and invited Joyce to train with him to get ready for the fight. Joyce didn't and that could've been because if he had won that fight he was in the running to land a Tyson Fury fight, which could've played into his decision.
"I told Joe live on the internet, if you come to Morecambe Bay, I will almost guarantee [you] a win over Zhang, and he didn't. He went to [Las] Vegas. You can't help someone who doesn't want to be helped."
Joyce interestingly enough has been sparring with Francis Ngannou, the former UFC heavyweight champion, who is making his professional boxing debut an attraction bout on pay-per-view against Fury. Though Fury didn't bring this up at all, he feels that Joyce is in a really close fight come Saturday giving a slight edge to Zhang
.
"Tough fight again, fifty-fifty, but you have to favor the champion [Zhang]," said Fury. "Because, once he has just beaten him, knocked him out, he will be on a real high, and his confidence will be [even higher] knowing he could win."
