Super middleweight Aaron Silva might just be Golden Boy Promotions next star.
Signed last November, Silva recently recorded one of the fastest KOs of the year stopping a veteran opponent Hassam Valenzuela in fifteen seconds, and that includes the ten-count. After the bout, he was quick to call out Edgar Berlanga - that is the type of fighter he is.
Eric Gomez, the president of Golden Boy Promotions, spoke to the potential of Silva when speaking to ProBox TV News.
"Yes, it is," said Gomez, when asked if 2024 will be a big year for Aaron Silva. "His visa expired, so we are in the process of renewing his visa."
A native of Monterrey, Mexico, Silva made headlines when he picked up a fourth-round stoppage of Alexis Espino, on the Canelo vs. Bivol undercard, as he stopped a previously unbeaten fighter.
"Once we get that done, we will bring home over [to the U.S.], and keep him busy," furthered Gomez. "He might fight one more time in Mexico before the end of the year, and if we are able to get the visa in time, we might bring him out here to the [United States].
In November of 2022, Silva signed with Golden Boy Promotions. So far he has a record 13-0, with 10 KOs.
Silva who started at just 13 years old, fought 82 amateur fights while winning some major tournaments. His father was a Karate world champion, as fighting is part of the family business. It is clear Golden Boy Promotions sees Silva as having a very big 2024, and given his high knockout ratio early on, he seems to be a fighter worth keeping an eye on.
