On Friday, February 16, Top Rank invades New York City as WBC super featherweight world champion O’Shaquie Foster (21-2, 12 KOs) looks to make his second title defense against Abraham Nova (21-1, 16 KOs). The match-up could determine who is the best super-featherweight in the division.
The bout is taking place at Madison Square Garden Theater.
O’SHAQUIE FOSTER IS A COMEBACK STORY
Despite two losses on his ledger, Foster is regarded as one of the best super featherweights in the sport. Foster partnered with boxing coach Bobby Benton after his loss to Ronald Chinea eight years ago. Since then he has been undefeated. Foster defeated Rey Vargas to win the vacant WBC super featherweight world title. Yet, he outdid himself in October when he stopped Eduardo ‘Rocky’ Hernandez via a dramatic knockout win in the twelfth and final round.
This will be Foster’s first fight since he signed with Top Rank Inc.
ABRAHAM NOVA IS A GOOD FIGHTER.
Robeisy Ramirez stopped Abraham Nova at featherweight. Since that fight, he has moved up in weight and rifled off two wins. Nova is trained by Mark De Luca, a great fighter in his own right. This will be Nova’s first attempt at a world title.
Nova is currently ranked No. 12 in the WBO super-featherweight rankings.
Nova is a decorated fighter with a deep amateur pedigree. He is also freakishly strong for his weight class.
