Jermell Charlo talks coming back down to 154 after Canelo fight

Undisputed junior middleweight champion Jermell Charlo (35-1-1, 19 KOs) has been hearing all of the buzz surrounding a potential fight with undisputed welterweight champion Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) in the future. Earlier tonight, Charlo went onto his Instagram account to update his followers on his plans for the future. Charlo said, “Bout To Shock The World (168). Then I’m Coming Back To Hold My Throne Down at (154). IM THE KING. NOTHING Will Stop Me. Mega Fight’s Here On Out. After My Boy Rematch We Can Give The People What They Want And Make The @tbudcrawford Happen!! #InMyZone #OHB #LionsOnly”.

The verbal sparring between Charlo and Crawford started years ago. After cooling down a bit as of late, Crawford reignited things by calling Charlo out during the Errol Spence Jr. fight by telling him that he was next. Charlo and Crawford went back and forth for a brief second, which was captured on Showtime’s All Access: The Epilogue. During an interview with Hot 97, which is a huge radio station in NYC, Crawford said that he didn’t have any ill will but just didn’t care for Charlo. Crawford also said during the post-fight press conference that the Charlo fight is the one he wants next, but he will face Spence Jr before the end of the year if he chooses to exercise the rematch clause they agreed to.

Crawford vs. Charlo is the next biggest fight that can be made, and if it all works out, the promotion behind that event will be huge. There will be plenty of trash-talking, which will certainly feed those in the social media world who love those juicy headlines. Let’s all hope that boxing continues to deliver these big fights, as that will always draw the crowds and gain the interest of the casual community.
