Conor Benn (22-0, 14KOs) said he wants to be considered as a possible opponent for newly crowned WBC world super-lightweight champion Devin Haney (31-0, 15KOs).
"If you fancy February 3 at Spurs, I’ll welcome you to the 147 division," said Benn on X, the social media site formerly known as Twitter.
Haney produced a career-best showing in defeating Regis Prograis (29-2, 24KOs) to capture the WBC crown Saturday, knocking down Prograis in the third round before continuing to rack up points on his way to securing a comfortable unanimous decision in San Francisco, California.
Haney claimed three identical scores of 120-107 to become a two-weight world champion.
Post-fight, Haney called out Gervonta Davis for a fight, and said he would also like to move up to the welterweight division.
Benn had been in talks to face Chris Eubank Jr (33-3, 24KOs) on February 3 in a proposed bout to be held at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London but, in the same post, said "Eubank lost his pen," and has, he implied, not signed a deal to box.
Bill Haney, the father and trainer of Devin Haney, expressed interest in facing Benn when asked by Tha Boxing Voice during an interview.
Bill said: “To be in the ring or their presence, the Benn family, they’re boxing royalty, bro, that would be an honour.”
