Jaime Munguia made weight and came in under the middleweight limit for his Saturday, DAZN headliner from the Arena Astros in Guadalajara, Mexico, against Gonzalo Gaston Coria.
Munguia weighed in at 159.8 lbs., and Coria weighed 159.4 lbs.
This was a surprise and it was believed to be contested at 165 lbs., as a catchweight, which would have put it between the middleweight and super middleweight limits.
Munguia is trying to get three straight knockouts in 2022, as he stopped Jimmy Kelly in his last fight, and opened the year with a KO as well. In his last bout, Munguia was the heaviest of his career. Munguia has also stated he believed he’d be fighting John Ryder in October, but the fight date fell apart, once Ryder got a fight with Zach Parker, as he is excited just to be fighting.
