Angelo Leo wants a rematch with Stephen Fulton Jr.
Leo returns on Wednesday, January 31, on ProBox TV, against Mike Plania as the main event of Wednesday Night Fights, which takes place in Plant City, Florida.
Leo is the former WBO super-bantamweight world champion. He recently snapped a long hiatus from the ring with his ProBox TV debut and the break was nearly 29 months. Now Leo has one goal, and that’s becoming a two-division world champion, although he wouldn’t mind getting revenge on Fulton Jr.
“Absolutely, I will want to fight him again,” Leo told ProBox TV. “I have talked to other interviewers about that. It has always been the same. I want that rematch. I want to get that back.”
Though Leo wants the fight, the 29-year-old, with a record of 22-1 (10 KOs), is not being consumed by the rematch. He pointed out he is not focused on Fulton Jr. at the moment. Leo’s current goal is to become a two-division world champion, something that his upcoming fight sets the stage for.
“Eventually I think we will meet again, but right now I am focused on becoming a two-time world champion,” Leo added. “A two-division world champion, but I think we will get that rematch pretty soon.”
Leo went on to say that by the end of the year he wants to compete for or put himself in position for a world title shot.
“My goal is to be in a title fight or title eliminator,” he said. “Either one of them. I’d prefer a title shot, because the sooner the better, right? Whichever works in God’s favor.”
