Lightweight Shakur Stevenson doesn’t have a nickname yet, but it might be the boogeyman, very soon.
Despite not having a fight at 135 lbs., Stevenson is already been turned down by Isaac Cruz, William Zepeda and George Kambosos. Next on the list is Shuichiro Yoshino, a relatively unknown Japanese fighter.
Stevenson has made it clear he’d rather fight the #7 ranked fighter in the WBC #7 Jamaine Ortiz, who recently gave Vasiliy Lomachenko an honest fight.
“Jamaine Ortiz is on the list. He did real good with Lomachenko. He just was a frontrunner,” said Shakur Stevenson to Sky Sports News about wanting to fight known lightweight Jamaine Ortiz next in 2023.“I already know he’s a tough fight for whoever. He’s a big 135 lb. I think the first six rounds, he’s going to start off blazing hot, then the next six, he dies down,” said Stevenson.
