Boxing's pound-for-pound No.1 fighter Terence Crawford has engaged former champions Keith Thurman and Danny Garcia in social media warfare, with all three parties seemingly arguing on X, the app formerly known as Twitter, and YouTube.
Crawford recently climbed to the sport's summit when he dropped long-time welterweight rival Errol Spence Jr. three times en route to a dominating finish on July 29 in Las Vegas.
Since then there has been speculation as to whom Crawford wants to fight, as he has linked himself to Jermell Charlo, and Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.
Spence, though, has activated a rematch clause that he is contractually obligated to, meaning the two fighters will likely leather one another again either at the end of 2023 or the beginning of next year.
Two fighters Crawford is fighting online, instead of in the ring, are Thurman and Garcia.
Crawford said on social media that he wanted to fight those guys, who are in the Premier Boxing Champions banner, when he was signed to Top Rank.
As those fights did not happen at the time, he does not seem keen to entertain such a bout in the near-future now that he has the crown and an emergent pay-per-view star.
"My my how the tables have turned," said Crawford, suggesting that Garcia and Thurman now want a shot at him after he seemingly feels they denied him a similar shot in years past.
Crawford claimed rivals like this "did me dirty."
He said: "Had all these people that don’t know anything about boxing trying to discredit my accomplishments. He haven’t fought nobody. Lies. But no one wanted to be that so-called somebody though.
"They say the cream always rise to the top and it looks like I’m the last man standing."
It was not long before both Garcia and Thurman responded.
On X, Garcia said: "I’m rich, bro … I don’t need to fight you. I been making millions."
Thurman, meanwhile, said on a Fight Hub video, that the version of Spence who Crawford fought, would also have been beaten by Shawn Porter, as well as himself.
"Everybody knows you put Thurman in the ring on that same night, Thurman wipes Spence — that Spence, that Errol, gets wiped by many people. And then you put me in there with you, kid, on that same night in Vegas, bro, it ain’t the same fight."
It is unclear if Crawford will ever entertain a bout with Thurman, however, considering the Spence rematch, together with a prospective future fight against Charlo or Canelo, it's clear the Omaha boxer has bigger money options.
