Trainer Brian “BoMac” McIntyre has walked away from prison after being handed a suspended sentence for possession of a firearm and ammunition last month.
McIntyre, prominently known as “BoMac”, was arrested at Manchester airport following masterminding Chris Eubank Jr’s rematch victory over Liam Smith at the Manchester Arena on September 2nd.
McIntyre was arrested the following morning, on September 3rd, at Manchester airport when he was set to board a flight to return to Atlanta in the United States.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) released a statement on September 4th confirming that McIntyre had been arrested and charged for possession of a firearm found in his hold luggage along with ammunition and without the appropriate certificate and paperwork.
“At around 10:45am on Sunday, September 3rd 2023, officers were called to reports of a possible firearm being found in hold luggage by airport staff at Manchester Airport.
“After initial inspection by security staff, GMP officers attended, and the firearm was seized.
“Subsequently, a 53-year-old man was arrested for possession of a firearm and was taken to custody for further questioning.
“Brian McIntyre (01/07/1970) from the United States of America was charged with possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition for a firearm without a certificate.”
McIntyre arrived at Manchester Crown Court and pleaded guilty to the offences which GMP had charged with him.
McIntyre’s sentencing had been delayed following a delay in other cases being heard within the court. However, McIntyre, as reported by reporter Oliver McManus, walked away a free man from court.
The judge handed McIntyre a twenty-month suspended prison sentence, suspended for two years.
No other sentencing details and penalties have been confirmed concerning travel bans to the United Kingdom at the time of publication.
